TOEFL Preparation Course
(Test Of English as a Foreign Language)

Nearly all international students wanting to enter an American college or university must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL.

The TOEFL examines students in four areas of English: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The TOEFL class at the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute offers a unique, comprehensive, and effective approach by focusing on testing techniques and strategies you need to succeed.

About TOEFL

What Is the TOEFL Test?
The TOEFL® Test (Test of English as a Foreign Language™) measures the ability of nonnative speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings. The TOEFL test is offered in different formats depending on a test taker's location.

What is the TOEFL® iBT?
The TOEFL® Internet-based test (iBT) tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: reading. listening, speaking, and writing. The test helps students demonstrate that they have the English skills needed for success. The TOEFL iBT also emphasizes integrated skills and provides better information to institutions about students' ability to communicate in an academic setting and their readiness for academic coursework.
